With the release of the 2011 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the world gets to see photographs of this year’s crop of beautiful athletes — in addition to all of the supermodels, of course.

Accordingly, it’s time to take a census of the world’s most beautiful athletes. Many, unsurprisingly, are Swimsuit Issue alums like tennis players Ana Ivanovic and Maria Kirilenko.

Others have simply risen to fame the old-fashioned way, by becoming Internet phenoms.
