Sepp Blatter's reign as FIFA president has come under increasing scrutiny in recent years, as his regime has proven conservative in its decisions to embrace technology in the sport and potentially corrupt in its World Cup selection processes — among other failings.

Now, an unlikely rival may be emerging, as Sports Illustrated writer Grant Wahl has announced his candidacy for the election for FIFA president this coming June. Wahl, who claims his candidacy isn't just a joke or a stunt, will need to be sponsored by the football association of one of FIFA's members in order to become an official candidate.

His platform is a pretty basic one: Prevent Blatter from winning a fourth term and end FIFA's corruption — perhaps by releasing all of the organization's documents in a "Wikileaks" type move.

See Wahl discuss his candidacy on Bloomberg TV below.
