A rodeo ended sadly in Tampa Bay on Friday when 16-year-old Riverview High School student Brook Ann Coats fell off of a bull and was kicked in the chest.

Although she appeared to be fine after getting up, she collapsed shortly thereafter and was treated by paramedics before being transported to Tampa Bay General Hospital.

Coats was pronounced dead at the Hospital during surgery.

The tragic accident occurred despite Coats wearing a protective vest and helmet.

“Bull riding was one of her really important hobbies — she really liked that stuff,” said friend Adrian Guzman. “She was really quiet and really shy, but she was a beautiful girl. She will be missed.”

Coats was known at the rodeo for her passion and fervor toward the sport.
