Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli has revealed that there is a strong chance that Savard's season is over, since the team does not want to take more chances on causing permanent damage in Savard's brain.
The slow healing approach has been a common theme in Bruins' country, and it has worked out well for those players that suffered debilitating concussions. Patrice Bergeron is one success story for Boston, as he took an entire season to heal, and it has served him well as he is now playing with confidence and a full bill of health.
If the doctors decide Savard is well enough to play again this season, the B's should exercise caution with his return. Rushing the center would only set him back in his recovery, and Bruins fans saw what happened when he came back to soon last season.
It would be great to see Savard back out on the ice, but this may be an instance where they give him the space and time needed to fully heal for successful seasons down the road in Boston.
