Getting kicked out of a basketball game is embarrassing. It’s even more embarrassing when you were honored at halftime.
That’s what happened to George Washington professor Robert Kasmir at the Colonials’ last regular-season home game on Saturday, Yahoo.com reports. Kasmir was tossed during the second half of the game, minutes after being honored at halftime for a hefty contribution he and his family gave to the university.
The GW professor left his courtside seat and got in the face of one of the referees to argue a foul call. The ref then ejected Kasmir from the game.
“Basically, I told the ref he was the worst ref I’d ever seen and he wasn’t worth the $1,600 dollars they were paying him and that was it,” he told The GW Hatchet. “And then he ejected me from the game.”
Fortunately, there are no hard feelings between the school and the professor. Kasmir admitted that he will continue to donate to George Washington in the future.
Senior vice provost Robert Chernark went as far as to say that Kasmir’s antics inspired the team.
“He did get a bigger ovation when he was thrown out than when he was on the court for his donation,” Chernak explained to The GW Hatchet. “Actually we started to play better afterwards, so maybe we need to make it a fan a game or something.”
