Josh Beckett Making Third Start of Spring As Red Sox Big Bats Get Sunday Rest Against Pirates Josh Beckett will make this third spring training start Sunday when the Red Sox visit the Pittsburgh Pirates for an afternoon affair.

The veteran right-hander has allowed two runs on 5 2/3 innings this spring, striking out four and walking one. He will be followed by the North Carolina products, Daniel Bard and Andrew Miller, who have a combined 10 strikeouts in nine Grapefruit League innings.

Boston is coming off a 9-2 win over Florida at home on Saturday. The game marked the debut of Adrian Gonzalez, who singled on the first pitch he saw and added a sacrifice fly in his second at-bat.

Gonzalez will take Sunday off before a return to game action Monday night. Many other big names will be absent from the trip, including Carl Crawford, Jacoby Ellsbury, David Ortiz, Dustin Pedroia and Kevin Youkilis.

Beckett is 1-1 with a 1.54 ERA in his career against Pittsburgh in the regular season, but has not faced them since 2004. Lincoln has allowed a run on three hits in five innings this spring.
