Michael Strahan Urges Giants to Bring Back Plaxico Burress as ‘No-Brainer’

Plaxico Burress is officially scheduled to be released from prison on June 6, an early release from his two-year sentence due to good behavior.

While Burress will be 34 before the start of next season — if there is one — former Giant Michael Strahan believes that it is a “no-brainer” that New York brings back its Super Bowl hero.

“I’d take him in a heartbeat,” Strahan told ProFootballTalk. “I think the Giants should get him. Why even act like the guy’s not talented and you wouldn’t want him to play for you?”

In Plax’s absence, the Giants have built a deep young receiving corps of Steve Smith, Hakeem Nicks and Mario Manningham, but Strahan still thinks that his former team could play host to another Mike Vick success story.

“I think Michael Vick has done a great job at showing that you can have a second opportunity and make the most of it,” he said. “And I think that’s what Plaxico could do if he’s given the opportunity to do it once he is out of prison.”

Burress has been rumored to be interested in signing with a team nearer to his Miami home, away from the New York media frenzy.
