Montreal Fans Stage Protest Against Hockey Violence Outside Bell Centre (Photos) Montreal fans are not taking the league's ruling against Zdeno Chara lightly, and they even staged a protest against hockey violence on Tuesday night outside the Bell Centre.

The protest organizers were expecting approximately 1,600 protestors to show up, but only 75 people arrived to join the demonstration against Gary Bettman and the NHL.

Those that did show up signed a petition calling for a ruling against head shots and asked for general managers to stimulate change in the league. The NHL GMs ruled earlier in the day that they would not propose a ban against head shots in the league, but would work toward tighter enforcement of boarding and charging penalties.
