Following Brandon Davies‘ dismissal from the BYU men’s basketball team for breaking the school’s honor code, speculation flew about what he did to get the boot. That speculation increased when it was reported that his transgressions did not break any laws. We now seem to know.

According to the Salt Lake Tribune, the forward was dismissed from the No. 3 Cougars for the rest of the season.

A source also reportedly told the Tribune that Davies was “extremely remorseful, heartbroken” by the situation, but is accepting the university’s punishment.

While Davies has been dismissed from the team, he has been allowed to stay at the school while his case is reviewed.

Run by the Church of Jesus Christ and the Latter-day Saints, BYU expects its students to live up to its Honor Code Statement which states that among other things, BYU students are expected to “live a chaste and virtuous life.”

Davies is the team’s leading rebounder and third leading scorer.
