The injury frustrations continue to pile up for Liverpool's young defender, Martin Kelly.

According to the Daily Mail, Kelly is out for four to five weeks with a hamstring injury. The youngster suffered the hamstring damage during Liverpool's 3-1 loss to West Ham on Sunday.

Kelly tried to maintain a hopeful outlook after the injury, even though he knew immediately after tackling West Ham midfielder Scott Parker that he had tweaked the hamstring.

"I took Scott Parker on down the right and when I took my last touch I felt a pull in my hamstring and there was no way I could carry on," Kelly said. "I will have the scan and hopefully it won't be too bad."

However, the results of the scan did not come out as the defender had hoped, and he will be forced to miss game action over the next few weeks, including an England U-21 friendly match against Iceland on March 28.

Kelly's latest injury adds to a string of problems he's experienced in his young career, as he battled back from knee and ankle injuries last season. He had just started to come into his own under Kenny Dalglish when the hamstring injury occurred.

Despite the frustrating nature of Kelly's injury, the defender is trying to stay positive for himself and for the Reds.

"I'm usually a quick healer and we have good medical staff at the club so hopefully I will be back soon," Kelly said. "We were all disappointed with the result and our performance on Sunday and we've got to put this behind us and look forward to the big game against Manchester United at Anfield."
