UPDATE 5:32p ET: Matt Cooke will reportedly be suspended through the first round of the playoffs.

With much of the hockey world calling for a Matt Cooke suspension that will see the Penguins’ forward sitting out the rest of the year, an early report indicates that may be the case.

ESPN’s John Buccigross reported via Twitter that Cooke will be suspended by the NHL for “at least the rest of the regular season.”

The Penguins have 10 games left in the regular season.
