Liverpool's search for youth and width appears to be moving in the right direction, as the club has apparently nearly reached pre-contract terms with Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux.

"I am very close to reaching agreement with Liverpool about joining them next season," the 24-year-old Frenchman told The People.

Marveaux, who can play either on the left or in a central attacking role, will be out of contract in the summer, though he is valued at £7 million, according to TransferMarkt.co.uk. His value had previously been even higher, but he has been out of action for much of this season with injury.

Marveaux has 20 goals and 16 assists with Rennes since joining the club in 2006. He has also been a transfer target of both Chelsea and Manchester United.

For country, Marveaux was a France Under-21 international, but he has yet to be capped for the senior squad.
