The Nationals can't catch a break with their No. 1 overall picks.

Last summer, Stephen Strasburg was shut down for the remainder of last season and most of this season, requiring Tommy John surgery. On Monday, Bryce Harper was carted off the field.

According to MLB.com, the 18-year-old catcher-turned-outfielder sprained his ankle during an intrasquad game while stepping on first base.

"Everyone was kind of shocked," a fan who saw the injury happen told MLB.com. "It looked like he was in serious pain. His eyes were closed, so it looked like he was upset. He didn't say anything [as he was carted off]."

Harper is listed as day-to-day.

Before being designated to Single-A Hagerstown, Harper was having a phenomenal spring training with a .389 batting average, three doubles, and five RBIs in 18 at-bats.
