The likelihood of Adrian Gonzalez penning an extension with the Red Sox was high from the day he was traded to Boston, but now that it's finalized, fans can look forward to the slugger's future.

Gonzalez signed a seven-year, $154 million extension with the Red Sox on Friday morning, and now that the slugger is locked in with Boston for the long-term, he can turn his focus toward his on-field performance.

NESN's Jerry Remy analyzed the Gonzalez deal before the Red Sox matched up with the Blue Jays on Friday, and says he's excited about the first baseman's future.

"They've got a guy here for a long time that's a quality person and a quality player," Remy said. "We've already seen that, and we haven't seen the best of Adrian yet."
