The Bruins fought a long, hard battle against the Canadiens in the first round of the NHL playoffs, and came away victorious with a huge overtime win in Game 7. The Black and Gold had a day to rest on Thursday, but they’ll be tossed right back into the grind with another tough series against the Flyers.

Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli spoke about the series with NESN’s Naoko Funayama on Thursday, and hopes that the Bruins’ regular season success against the Flyers will spill over into the postseason.

“We just have to make strong, smart plays,” Chiarelli said. “And the rest will fall into place. It’s going to be a good series, it’s going to be a physical series.”

NESN analyst Andy Brickley also stopped in during Thursday’s edition of NESN Daily to discuss the upcoming matchup with Philadelphia, and he expects another tough round for the B’s.

“The Flyers are a better team than the Montreal Canadiens,” Brick said. “They’re deeper, they’re more balanced, they’re tougher and overall it will be a tougher challenge for the Boston Bruins. The Bruins are going to have to elevate their game.”
