Dustin Pedroia Continues Home Opener Success With Home Run, Three RBIs Against Yankees

There's just something about Opening Day at Fenway Park that gets Dustin Pedroia's bat going.

The Red Sox' second baseman hit a two-run homer in Boston's home opener, his third straight home run on Opening Day at Fenway. Pedroia credited the crowd and the overall spirit of the day for his success at the plate.

"It's fun to get the fans involved," Pedroia said after the Sox' first win of the season. "We needed to come home and play well. It's a good start, we just need to keep it going."

Pedroia said that he wasn't trying to put the team on his back with his plate performance, he was just trying to stay relaxed after the team's frustrating 0-6 start.

"We've had some big expectations put on us," Pedroia said. "The first six were tough for us. Now we have 155 more to go — we gotta play well."
