Roy Hodgson's tenure as Liverpool manager lasted only six months. Hodgson says it wasn't because of a lack of success, but that he was unwanted.
According to The Independent, the former Liverpool boss feels that he was driven out by the ownership and fans.
"The people who employed me didn't stay too long," Hodgson said. "I think for the new owners they obviously found themselves in a difficult situation because we weren't winning enough games."
Red Sox co-owner John Henry took over Liverpool in October, replacing Hodgson with Kenny Dalglish within three months of taking the reins at Anfield. Hodgson says he feels he was unwanted by the LFC fan base as well.
"The fans were making it clear they wanted me gone and someone else in," Hodgson said. "Everyone knows for one minute I can't suggest I felt wanted at Liverpool.
"It is not exactly a secret I wasn't perceived by a lot of people as the manager they wanted at Liverpool," the former manager added. "They wanted somebody else and that makes life a lot more difficult. It was my misfortune to be at a club where the fans made it pretty clear early on they really wanted the manager they have got now."
Hodgson was the Liverpool manager from July 1, 2010 to Jan. 8, 2011, serving only 31 matches, the shortest reign in Liverpool history. His most humiliating defeat came on Dec. 29, 2010, when Liverpool fell to last-place Wolverhampton, marking Liverpool's first loss to the Wolves in 27 years.
Over the weekend, Hodgson managed his new club,West Bromwich Albion, to a 2-1 victory over Liverpool.
