Jamie Carragher, Jay Spearing Still Hopeful Liverpool Can Qualify for Europe A late goal by West Brom on Saturday may have set Liverpool further back in the quest to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, but it's not sinking the players' hope that they can get it done before season's end.

"We will never give up the fight for Europe and there are still plenty of points to play for," Jay Spearing told Liverpoolfc.tv. "We know we are good enough to beat [Manchester City on April 11] and we will be giving it everything we have got to make that happen."

Jamie Carragher shared a similar sense of optimism.

"I don't think losing the extra point here with that late goal will make or break how we finish the end of the season," Carragher told LFC.tv. "There have been plenty of times this season when we thought European qualification had gone, [such as] Wigan at home, West Ham away. But then you get a couple of good results after those and you think it's back on.

"With this defeat [to West Brom], it looks as if we are even further away now. But you never know — a couple of good results and we could be back in it."

Liverpool currently trails Tottenham by five points for fifth place.
