The starting pitching has been outstanding lately for the Red Sox, and Sunday was no different. John Lackey pitched eight shutout innings as the Red Sox closed out a sweep of the Angels, 7-0.

Lackey allowed only six hits and one walk, while striking out six. He threw 108 pitches, 73 of which were strikes.

As fantastic as he was, Lackey made it a point to praise catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia.

“I have to give Jarrod [Saltalamacchia] a lot of credit,” Lackey said. “I thought we were on the same page, the best we’ve been since the start of the season.”
