Red Sox Fans, Players Celebrate Opening Day Victory Against Yankees (Photos) Boston fans and players finally got what they had long been waiting for, a Red Sox victory. Even better, it came on Opening Day at Fenway Park against the rival New York Yankees.

While John Lackey was not at his best, the Red Sox bats and bullpen impressed.

Dustin Pedroia sparked the offense with a home run in the first inning, and Jarrod Saltalamacchia picked a good time to break out, adding two hits and an RBI double to break open the game.

In the bullpen, Alfredo Aceves, Bobby Jenks, Daniel Bard and Jonathan Papelbon combined to pitch four shutout innings.

But the four weren't the only stellar Red Sox pitchers on Friday. Legend and former Triple Crown king Carl Yastrzemski threw out the ceremonial first pitch.
