There have been plenty of rumors swirling around the Dodgers ownership situation this week, but there is one rumor that we can likely put to rest.

According to Boston Globe reporter Nick Cafardo, Red Sox chairman Tom Werner has no interest in purchasing the Dodgers if MLB pushes the sale of Frank McCourt‘s former club. Cafardo said he spoke with Werner on Thursday morning, and the chairman said he is not interested in getting involved in the Dodgers’ situation.

“I spoke to Tom this morning and he really wanted to make it very clear that there’s no chance he’s going to buy the Los Angeles Dodgers — now or in the future,” Cafardo said. “He’s not interested at all. Very happy being John Henry’s business partner with the Red Sox and the Fenway Sports Group and would like to remain in that capacity.”
