Former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has helped spark a turnaround in his new position at West Bromwich Albion, but he admits the team has a long way to go this summer if it wants to improve its Premier League status.
Hodgson admitted on Monday that West Brom is looking to sign "several players" during the summer transfer window in order to add some much-needed support to the current squad, ESPN.com reports.
''We are running on a reasonably small squad of players," Hodgson said. "We are asking an awful lot of inexperienced players who are getting better all the time. But if we want to have a good Premier League campaign next season, it is very important we sign several players in the summer that will really help us."
The West Brom boss also admitted that the team is putting a lot of weight on the shoulders of its Premier League newcomers Youssouf Mulumbu and Peter Odenwingie, and wants to help share the workload by bringing in a new batch of talent.
''I think we need to make some improvements to the squad if we do stay up," Hodgson said. "We need to be looking very carefully at how we are going to improve this squad."
