Tomas Kaberle was brought to Boston for one reason: to create offense from the blue line.
Unfortunately, the 12-year veteran has been caught in an offensive rut since tossing on the Bruins sweater, and general manager Peter Chiarelli has taken notice. Kaberle was expected to boost the team's power play unit, in particular, but the B's have been unable to bury a power-play tally in three postseason games, going 0-for-11 with the man-advantage.
Chiarelli recently appeared on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher and Rich and voiced his displeasure with the puck-moving D-man.
"He hasn’t played up to the level we expected," Chiarelli told the station. "I think what’s happened is there have been parts of his game, when you haven’t been in the playoffs in awhile, that have stuck with him. We expected him to be better."
Kaberle netted one goal and assisted on eight in 24 regular-season games for the B's while posting a plus-6 rating. He has yet to register a point in the postseason and his plus-minus is at zero.
