Versus.com is now gone from online, thanks to NBC and Comcast.

The joint venture, NBCUniversal, LLC, is 51 percent owned by Comcast and 49 percent owned by General Electric.

The record-breaking deal was first announced in December of 2009, but was just approved by the Federal Communications Commission and the Justice Department on January 18, 2011.

The cable sports channel Versus, which is now under control of NBCUniversal, is starting to reflect the merger. The channel's website, Versus.com is no more, as it is now under the NBC Sports umbrella. Going to Versus.com will redirect you to NBCsports.msnbc.com where there is no Versus branding.

NBCUniversal and the NHL announced a new 10-year television deal last week, and the brand "Versus" will eventually be changed as well.
