Among the Bruins newcomers are players that have never experienced the thrill of the playoffs, and then there are those that are seeing it for the first time in black and gold.
When it comes to this batch of new players, who will have the greatest impact during the first round?
Greg Campbell and Nathan Horton are making their first-ever trips to the postseason after going through a playoff drought with the Florida Panthers. Both players are extremely excited about the opportunity and should have no problems transitioning their solid regular season play into the playoffs.
Campbell especially has proven that he has no fear this season, and though a playoff series with the hated rivals will be daunting, the gritty forward should be up for the challenge.
Tomas Kaberle is no stranger to the Stanley Cup playoffs, though the veteran defenseman hasn’t seen the postseason since before the NHL lockout. Kaberle has 28 playoff points in his career and he’ll be crucial in quarterbacking the B’s man-advantage to help spark the special teams in the postseason.
Rich Peverley will also be making his first visit to the NHL playoffs, but he does have a bit of postseason experience in the AHL. Peverley, along with fellow forward Chris Kelly, will be relied upon for their quick, transitional attack in the playoffs, as they definitely pack a punch on the Bruins’ forward lines.
Kelly has three seasons of playoff experience with the Senators, and he’ll be looked upon to not only generate offense for the B’s, but also to help kill off penalties if Boston gets into trouble along the way.
