Who Was the Amica Pitcher of the Week This Week for the Red Sox? After six tough games on the road, the Red Sox finally came away with their first win of the season at home against the Yankees on Friday. It took some time for the team to snap out of the cruise control mode of spring training, but they’re hopefully on the right track now that they have a win under their belts.

Though they started out the season 0-6, there were some promising pitching performances throughout the week, ones to give us plenty of hope for the season ahead.

Jon Lester may have struggled in his Opening Day outing, but the Red Sox’ lefty settled down in his second start against the Indians on Thursday. Lester threw seven solid innings in a pitcher’s duel with Cleveland’s Fausto Carmona, allowing just three hits and striking out nine.

John Lackey has not pitched the way he was hoping to start the 2011 season, but he earned the Red Sox’ first win on Friday against the Yankees and his teammates backed him after his start. Lackey still has a very high ERA, but the righty is already looking ahead at what he can improve for future starts.

The bullpen proved its’ potency on Friday after Bobby Jenks, Daniel Bard and Jonathan Papelbon secured the Red Sox’ victory, allowing no hits or runs in the perfect relief outing.
