The Yankees have added yet another starting pitcher this season.
New York announced that they have signed right-handed pitcher Carlos Silva to a minor league deal on Saturday.
Prior to the start of the season, the Chicago Cubs parted ways with their starting pitcher, but are still responsible for most of Silva's $11.5 million contract. Last season, the 31-year-old had a 10-6 record in 21 starts, with a 4.22 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 80 strikeouts over 113.0 innings, but he struggled mightily this spring.
The signing may potentially give Silva a chance to reunite with his former pitching coach, Larry Rothschild, who oversaw Silva under the same role in Chicago last season.
In six career appearances against Boston, Silva has a 2-2 record with a 1.91 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and has held batters to a .279 batting average.
