Adrian Gonzalez Continues to Improve at Plate, Homers on Birthday

It was certainly a happy birthday for Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez on Sunday. He went 3-for-4 with a home run as he continues to make strides at the dish, particularly when it comes to power numbers.

Gonzalez is hitting .386 in his last 14 games, while also compiling 10 extra-base hits and a .407 on-base percentage over that span.

The 29-year-old says he is becoming more comfortable at the plate, as is the rest of the team.

“I’m getting more comfortable with my swing, so everything’s better,” Gonzalez told NESN’s Heidi Watney on Red Sox Extra Innings after Sunday’s 9-5 win over the Twins.

The three-time All-Star also made it a point to wish a happy Mother’s Day to his mother, as well as his wife who is expecting a child.
