It looks like Liverpool supporters won't have to worry about Andy Carroll being deprived of rest this summer after all.
Despite being named in Stuart Pearce's original 40-man England squad for this summer's European Championships in Denmark, Carroll has been left out of the final 23-man team, according to LFC.tv.
"Andy has been ruled out through injury," explained Pearce. Carroll missed Sunday's season finale at Villa Park with a knee injury, and he has been in and out of fitness since 2010.
Midfielder Jay Spearing has also been left off the final squad after being included in the provisional roster. Spearing was forced out of Sunday's match early in the first half after sustaining an ankle injury on a Nigel Reo-Coker tackle.
As for the full international squad, defender Glen Johnson has been called up for the Three Lions' Euro 2012 qualifier against Switzerland on June 4.
