Whenever one of your players goes down with an injury in the playoffs, it's a major cause for concern. But when it's a concussion and a star player who's battled concussions throughout his career, there's an even greater concern.
Bruins head coach Claude Julien understands this, which is why he is proceeding with caution when it comes to forward Patrice Bergeron, who sustained a concussion in the team's Game 4 win against the Philadelphia Flyers.
"I've always said that when it comes to concussions, you think about the person first and not the player," Julien said. "We'll deal with the situation and make the best of it, but there's no doubt that we'd love to have him back. But not until he's 100 percent and ready to go."
In Bergeron's absence, the rest of the Bruins will have even greater responsibilities as they try to ensure the team keeps rolling.
Lyndon Byers said on NESN Daily that the Bruins wouldn't have beaten the Montreal Canadiens in the first round without Bergeron. But he expects his teammates to step up and for the Bruins to remain physical.
