David Ortiz didn't start the first game of Sunday's doubleheader with the Tigers, but it didn't stop him from still enjoying success at Comerica Park.

Ortiz, who now has 16 home runs at Comerica Park in 41 career games, entered the game as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning and promptly homered off Tigers closer Jose Valverde to break a 3-3 tie. He now has two hits off Valverde in his career, both of which are home runs.

The home run was the fourth pinch-hit home run of Ortiz's career, a statistic that surprised the big slugger upon hearing it from NESN's Heidi Watney. His last pinch-hit home run came in 2003, which was his first home run in a Red Sox uniform.

To hear what Ortiz had to say about his ninth-inning at-bat, as well as what he's been doing at the plate recently that has enabled him to have so much success, check out the video above.
