Comedian Seth Meyers and President Barack Obama took the opportunity to roast Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in a public fashion this past weekend.

Feeling jilted, Trump was compelled to respond to the barbs.

In an interview with the New York Times on Sunday, Trump spoke on a variety of topics, including his recent profanity-laced speech in Las Vegas and his possible run for the White House.

When discussing the issue of same-sex marriage, Trump explained that his opposition to the notion is analogous to his distaste for long putters, which have recently come to prominence in professional golf.

“It’s like in golf,” Trump told the Times. “A lot of people — I don’t want this to sound trivial — but a lot of people are switching to these really long putters, very unattractive,” said Mr. Trump, a Republican. “It’s weird. You see these great players with these really long putters, because they can’t sink three-footers anymore. And, I hate it. I am a traditionalist. I have so many fabulous friends who happen to be gay, but I am a traditionalist.”
