Drew Sutton Starting, Dustin Pedroia Sitting for Second of Three-Game Set in Cleveland

Drew Sutton will start in place of Dustin Pedroia at second base, and Jed Lowrie will bat second when the Red Sox take on the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night.

Pedroia sustained a stinger in his surgically repaired left foot Monday night in an awkward spill rounding second base. He was removed in favor of Sutton, who had been brought up from Triple-A Pawtucket a few days ago.

When Sutton steps to the plate, it will be his first major league plate appearance since last year, when he was a member of the Indians. Sutton hit .307 with five home runs and 26 RBIs in 37 games for the PawSox this season.

Lowrie will be hitting in Pedroia's customary No. 2 spot. It marks the first time this year and the 22nd time in his career he has started a game batting second.

With Sutton batting ninth, Jason Varitek is bumped up to seventh for the third time in 2011. Varitek is 3-for-6 with a double and a walk against Indians starter Fausto Carmona. David Ortiz is 6-for-15 (.313) with a home run and five RBIs.

The rest of the lineup is a collective 8-for-50 (.160).
