Howard, though, doesn't want to talk about it. In fact, he doesn't even want to read about it.
"[Why] does it seem like the writers of Orlando Sentinel are tryna push me out of Orlando with dumb articles," Howard tweeted to his 2 million-plus followers. "It's annoying. Can I enjoy my summer and get ready for next season in Orlando. Pls. Same thing u guys did to Shaq. Smh"
Howard, of course, was referring to Shaquille O'Neal, who left Orlando as a free agent in the summer of 1996 after the Orlando Sentinel published several polls of fans and the media criticized his personal life.
When one of Howard's followers said that "blaming the media" was "hollow," Howard responded.
"I'm not blaming the media. I'm saying stop with the dumb articles," Howard wrote. "They don't make [the] decision of mine. I jus don't want Orlando fans to believe them. Cuz they don't know. I love my city."
When another follower told him he should stay in Orlando and create a legacy as the best center of all time, Howard seemed open to the idea.
"That's what I'm tryna do," he said.
