While it has been widely reported for some months that Rennes winger Sylvain Marveaux's summer move to Liverpool was a done deal, the 25-year-old Frenchman cast doubt on that subject this weekend, saying that he had yet to make up his mind.

"I have not chosen. I have not yet signed. What is certain is that next season I will play in England," he told L'Equipe.

Marveaux missed the majority of the 2010-11 season with a groin injury, and he has just recently able to resume training. Because he is expected to leave the Ligue A club to which he has belonged for a decade on a free transfer this summer, he has been barred from training with the team.

"I was able to resume training this week. I would have liked to train with my teammates, but the club informed me that they did not want me to take part with the group," he explained.

"I enjoyed helping the club to a great season," Marveaux said. "I am disappointed at not being able to have one last match at the stadium. For 10 years, I gave what I had to give to Rennes."

In total, Marveaux has compiled 20 goals and 16 assists in 118 appearances for Rennes. He is valued at £6.6 million, according to TransferMarkt.co.uk.
