Michael Bowden has spent the past three seasons going back and forth between the Red Sox and Triple-A Pawtucket. With reliever Franklin Morales heading to the disabled list on Sunday due to a left forearm strain, Bowden was called up once again by the big club, arriving to the Sox bullpen during the first inning of the first game of Sunday's doubleheader.

Bowden said between Games 1 and 2 of the twinbill that he feels comfortable with the Red Sox, and that he is ready to take the ball when given the opportunity. He said he's adapted to the bullpen role by figuring out what to throw during specific times in a game.

Bowden, 24, has yet to make an appearance with the Red Sox this season, but did appear in 14 games in 2010, compiling a 4.70 ERA.
