Both Carl Crawford and J.D. Drew will be on the bench Tuesday night when the Red Sox take on rookie left-hander Zach Britton and the Baltimore Orioles.
Crawford is 2-for-17 over his last four games and hitting just .146 (7-for-48) against left-handers this year. Drew has actually performed well against southpaws and had two hits and a walk in Monday night's game.
The two were a combined 1-for-8 in a loss to Britton last month.
The top five in the order stays in place. Jed Lowrie moves from seventh to Drew's spot in the six-hole. Lowrie is batting .442 (19-for-43) with a 1.209 OPS against left-handers.
Mike Cameron fills in for Drew in right field and bats seventh. Darnell McDonald gets his first start this month and bats ninth. He is just 3-for-20 (.150) with eight strikeouts in limited duty.
