The Red Sox and Cubs will play at Fenway Park on Sunday night, but once that finale of a three-game series is started, more than 2,000 runs will have been pushed across home plate.

That's because more than 2,000 runners have signed up for the Run to Home Base, an annual 9K race to support wounded veterans and their families. Proceeds from the event will go to the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base program.

Of the 2,000 runners signed up to participate, several hundred of them are active members of the military, in addition to a number of runners who are wounded veterans.

The Fenway Park gates will open at 6 a.m. on Saturday with opening ceremonies scheduled for 7:25 a.m., while the race will begin at 8.
