Hayden Walton, a 13-year-old boy from Arizona was killed when he took a pitch to the chest during a Little League game, The Associated Press reports.

Walton reportedly went to bunt a pitch during a game in Winslow, Ariz., when the pitch hit him in the chest. He collapsed on the field and died the next morning at a local hospital.

"He took an inside pitch right in the chest," Winslow Little League official Jamey Jones said. "After that he took two steps to first base and collapsed."

His parents were at the game and are too distraught to comment on the accident at this time, but the league's president, Dale Thomas, said that Walton was "the epitome of what every little boy ought to be."

Walton also had a younger sister.
