Which Red Sox Player Will Reach His Statistical Landmark First? Being one of the best teams in baseball, the Red Sox have several players who rank among the league leaders in major statistical categories. Adrian Gonzalez leads MLB in batting average and RBIs, Jon Lester is tied with others in the league-lead for wins, and Jacoby Ellsbury leads the American League in steals.

But which of the Sox will reach their respective statistic’s landmark first?

Lester currently has nine wins in 16 starts this season. Lester won eight games after the All-Star break last season, so can we assume that he’ll reach 15 wins this season?

Gonzalez has 69 RBIs, putting him on pace for 149 RBIs. It’s inevitable that he’ll reach 100 RBIs, but when will that take place?

Ellsbury’s 24 stolen bases should put him en route to 50. Can he get to the mark that he’s reached in his two full seasons? David Ortiz has avoided his early-season woes and has been mashing the ball, leading the team with 17 homers. Can he hit 30 for the seventh time in nine seasons? And considering the Red Sox offense, closer Jonathan Papelbon has not seen as many save opportunities, compiling 13 saves through Friday. Will he be able to reach 30 in the final year of his contract?
