Bruins Captain Zdeno Chara Speechless After Winning First Stanley Cup

When general manager Peter Chiarelli signed Zdeno Chara as a free agent in 2006, he immediately knew he had a captain that was capable of bringing the team back to Stanley Cup glory. After a Game 7 win in Vancouver, the mission is complete.

A five-time All-Star, 2008 Norris Trophy winner and 2011 Norris Trophy finalist, Chara’s become one of the most decorated defensemen in the NHL. But the Stanley Cup win trumps every award the big man has earned in his 13-year career.

Struggling for words, Chara said he experienced pure happiness upon hoisting the Stanley Cup.
