The Bruins won a winner-take-all Game 7 against the Canucks on Wednesday night, giving the B’s and the city of Boston their first Stanley Cup title since 1972.
Patrice Bergeron gave the Bruins a 1-0 lead with a first-period goal, and the B’s grew their lead in the second period behind a goal from Brad Marchand and another from Bergeron — a shorthanded tally — to lead the way.
Marchand added an empty-net goal in the third period to seal the win.
Tim Thomas was named the winner of the Conn Smythe trophy.
