The much-hyped interleague series in Philadelphia opens Tuesday with Darnell McDonald batting fifth for the Red Sox.

McDonald, hitting .109, is in left field and will provide protection in the order to cleanup hitter Kevin Youkilis against left-hander Cliff Lee. Mike Cameron is in right field with David Ortiz, J.D. Drew and Josh Reddick's left-handed swings on the bench.

Josh Beckett starts for the Red Sox. The 6-foot-5 right-hander has not pitched in 13 days, but he takes a 6-2 record and major league-leading 1.86 ERA into Citizens Bank Park. First pitch is 7:05.

The Red Sox received a bit of beneficial news when the Phillies announced reliever Ryan Madson was placed on the disabled list with a bruised right hand. Madson has been serving as the closer while the Phils' already thin bullpen deals with the absences of Brad Lidge and Jose Contreras.
