Former Sixth Man Award winner Terry has struggled so far in the Finals, especially late in games when LeBron James is guarding him. Nowitzki continued his stellar play in the 2011 playoffs, scoring 34 points in the 88-86 loss to the Heat while also scoring his team's last 12 points. Terry, however, was ineffective in the 4th quarter of the loss, going 0-of-4 from the field thanks to James's stingy defense.
"They keep sticking him [James] on Jet in the fourth quarters and he's been doing a good job," Nowitzki said. "Jet hasn't really been a crunch-time, clutch player for us the way we need him to.
Terry has shot a combined 3-of-12 in fourth quarters of the Finals series against Miami, including 0-of-7 in losses. Terry, however, did not want to give too much credit to the Heat's defense for his struggles, saying that the Portland Trailblazers, the Mavericks' first round opponent, were the best defensive team the Mavericks have seen in the playoffs.
Terry's poor Finals shooting has not hurt his confidence, however.
Referring to specific misses in the fourth quarter of Game 3, Terry said: "Hey, it happens. If I get those same shots in Game 4, I bet I make them."
