Josh Beckett's Dominant One-Hit Performance Earns Him Amica Pitcher of the Week Honors With all the attention the Red Sox offense has received recently, the pitching staff reminded everyone this week that it should not be forgotten.

Candidates for Amica Pitcher of the Week honors were many, starting with Jon Lester's eight innings of two-hit ball Sunday and riding straight into John Lackey's strong performance Friday, when he retired 16 of the last 17 batters he faced.

Few pitchers have matched Josh Beckett's dominance this season, however, and his fellow Sox hurlers couldn't match him this week either.

Beckett went the distance Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays, allowing just one hit and no runs. He struck out six batters without issuing a walk, the ninth time this season he has issued two walks or fewer in a game.
