Boston Police are warning Bruins fans to be on the lookout for counterfeit tickets to the Stanley Cup Final.
Counterfeit tickets, which are nothing knew to the sports world, specifically the Super Bowl, have surfaced around Boston in recent days as fans seek ways to watch the Bruins in their first Final appearance since 1990.
According the Boston Herald, police arrested Bronx native David Lucas, 28, for attempting to sell counterfeit tickets outside the TD Garden on Monday evening.
Police approached Lucas, who was chatting with a pedestrian outside the MBTA plaza, according to the report. After Lucas admitted to the officers that he had been "scalping tickets," police asked if he had any other tickets, and Lucas did not respond.
Officers then searched Lucas and found 18 tickets –14 to Monday's Game 3. The police brought the tickets to the Garden, where it was determined that they were counterfeit.
Lucas has been charged with manufacturing counterfeit tickets.
Vancouver fans encountered similar problems, according to the Globe and Mail.
Several Canucks fans were turned away at the gate before Games 1 and 2 of the series after purchasing tickets on the open market that they believed were real.
