Your choice of attire when robbing someone can be crucial. It has to strike the right tone. In La Mesa, Calif., a man who robbed a local Motel 6 at gunpoint decided to wear a Paul Pierce jersey, patch.com reports.

If he really wanted to wear a jersey that was more fitting to the crime he was about to commit, he should have gone with Rajon Rondo's No. 9. The point guard holds a career average of 2.3 steals per game, surpassing Pierce's 1.5 career average.

All kidding aside, patch.com reports that luckily no one was harmed in the incident, which took place Monday night.

"The clerk reported the suspect entered the motel office and inquired about a room," the La Mesa police department said in a news release. "The suspect then pulled out a handgun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded the clerk give him the money from the register."

Police arrived at the scene, 7621 Alvarado Road, at 6:30 p.m. At that time, the suspect had already fled the scene, and he has yet to be apprehended or identified, patch.com reports.
