Peter Gammons and Michael Vega sat down with Tom Caron prior to Friday night's Red Sox game against the Oakland Athletics. Among the topics of discussion was the surprising struggle of some Red Sox players in the fan voting for the MLB All-Star Game.

Gammons expressed particular surprise that first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and designated hitter David Ortiz, who trail Mark Teixeira and Michael Young respectively, were not leading their respective positions. Six Yankees, including Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, are in line to start for the American League.
