The official announcement came shortly after Tony Massarotti reported the same information on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
General manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed that Horton suffered a “severe concussion” when he was hit by Aaron Rome in the opening five minutes of Game 3 on Monday night. Rome was given a five-minute major penalty for interference and a game misconduct, and he has a disciplinary hearing scheduled with the NHL on Tuesday.
Horton, 26, was second on the Bruins this season with 26 goals and fourth on the team with 53 points. He’s second on the team in postseason goals with eight, including three game-winners, two of which came in the overtime periods of Game 7. He also led all NHL forwards with a plus-11 rating in the playoffs.
Update: The Bruins have confirmed that Horton suffered a severe concussion and won’t return this postseason.
