The Bruins had their fair share of brawls this season — stop me if you've heard this before.
According to FightCard.com, the B's dropped the mitts 71 times (tied for second most in the NHL with the Penguins, seven fights behind the league-leading, bruisin' Blues of St. Louis) during the regular season. They then fought an NHL-most five more times in the Stanley Cup playoffs en route to their first Stanley Cup victory since 1972.
Leading the Black and Gold brawl crew this season was Shawn Thornton (14 fights), Adam McQuaid (12) and Gregory Campbell (11), but, according to Puck Daddy, one of the league's top fights of the year came from the fists of Nathan Horton.
Horton, who fought seven times in the 2010-11 season (tied with Milan Lucic for fourth-most on the B's), caught the eye of the Yahoo blogger by throwing down with Senators tough guy Zack Smith on April 9, as seen below.
Puck Daddy's reason for giving Horton-Smith the No. 10 fight of the season was because "this fight was memorable for a few reasons: The sense of danger as Horton decided to fight just days before the playoffs started; the wonderful fight-calling of Jack Edwards; and the fact it was a pretty good scrap."
The No. 1 fight of the season, according to Mr. Daddy, was the Eric Boulton-John Erskine fight on Nov. 14, 2010, as seen below.
